Improved access to historic park for Pukekohe.
Eke Panuku has partnered with Auckland Transport to improve access to Roulston Park (which Eke Panuku is also upgrading).
Auckland Transport is upgrading intersections to improve traffic flows in Pukekohe’s town centre. Eke Panuku has partnered with Auckland Transport to include upgrades to two additional intersections along Massey Drive to East Street. These intersections have been included to improve pedestrian access to Roulston Park.
Roulston Park is to be upgraded in late 2024. The upgrade follows extensive engagement and discussion with the community, the Franklin Local Board, mana whenua and Auckland Council. The Pukekohe community were concerned about pedestrian access to the park from the town centre. The park is bordered on two sides by high traffic volume roads and this traffic currently passes through uncontrolled intersections.
In early 2024, Auckland Transport will begin upgrading these two intersections. The upgrades will include traffic signals (traffic lights) to improve overall traffic flows and average wait times. Importantly, they will also include pedestrian crossing phases to make these corridors safer for people on foot, including people accessing Roulston Park.
