World Rally Championship

Set to be one of the largest sporting events to visit Auckland in 2022, the World Rally Championships will attract a significant number of international, domestic and local visitors to Auckland, and garner an international viewing audience of more than 70,000,000.

Stages for the event have been announced and the service park and fan zone will be located on the waterfront, utilising Silo Park, Halsey Wharf, and the bases on Wynyard Point in Wynyard Quarter.

Upwards of 1000 team members will be based on the Wynyard Wharf and Halsey Wharf service park for the four days of the event and it is expected the event will draw around 5,000 – 10,000 spectators per day through the rally village.

Pack in for the event will take place from 19 September between 7:00am - 9:00pm.

Parking Resolution:

Temporary parking restrictions, including no stopping and bus parking, will be established in and around the service park/race village as detailed below:

• From Mon 19 September, 06:00 - Mon 5 October, 06:00 Hamer Street Bus Layover relocated on Beaumont Street (between Madden St and Pakenham St W)
• From Mon 26 September, 06:00 – Mon 5 Oct, 06:00 Hamer Street west edge – Silo Park Extension to Link Road
• From Mon 19 September, 06:00 – Wed 5 Oct, 06:00 Hamer Street east edge – Silo Park Extension to Link Road (includes footpath/loading zone)
• From Mon 26 Sept, 06:00 – Mon 5 Oct, 06:00 Hamer Street west edge – Silo Park Extension to Link Road
• From Mon 26 Sept, 06:00 – Mon 5 Oct, 06:00 Jellicoe St West
• Jellicoe Carpark will be closed to the public from Mon 19 September, 06:00 - Mon 5 October, 06:00. Access will be maintained for businesses who have existing allocated parking

Road Closures:

• Hamer Street north of link road will have a partial closure from 0400 on Mon 19 September until 1200 on 5 October 2022. Access to businesses is maintained. (Note there is an active overnight closure in place)
• Hamer Street at Jellicoe St Intersection (businesses retain access) – From 0600 Thurs 29th Sept - 0600 Mon 3rd Oct.

Vehicles will leave from the service park early in the morning to head to their stages on race days and return in the evening. The service park will be closed from 11:00pm each night, and event pack out will take place from 3 October until 7 October 2022.
