Eke Panuku is delighted to announce the trial of a temporary free ferry service to Wynyard Quarter in response to the Wynyard Crossing Bridge maintenance closure.
The Wynyard Quarter is home to some of Tāmaki Makaurau's best hospitality venues and waterside views. Jump on board the free ferry service to cross the viaduct for free, while enjoying a unique perspective of our city from the water.
While the trial ferry service is a temporary measure, the City Link bus service remains a fast and frequent way to reach Wynyard Quarter, operating every seven minutes, every day. For additional transport options visit AT.govt.nz.
If you've used the free ferry, we'd love you to fill out our short survey.
Dates, tickets and boarding:
The ferry trial will take place on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May from 8.00am to 5.30pm. You don’t need to make a reservation; simply turn up and enjoy the experience. See the map for boarding locations. Conditions apply*
Although the ferries are fully accessible, no scooters or bikes are allowed on board.
If you've taken the ferry, please give us your feedback
After your journey, please complete a brief survey to share your thoughts (approx. 5 minutes to complete). Remember, this survey should only be completed AFTER you’ve taken one of the trial ferry services.
Purpose of the trial
This trial will provide us with valuable information that will be used to inform any future decisions about the viability of a temporary ferry service.
*Note: Eke Panuku/The Red Boats reserve the right to refuse boarding to any individual at any time for reasons including, but not limited to, safety concerns, non-compliance with ferry rules, or inappropriate behaviour. No scooters or bicycles are not allowed on board.
