Harbour Pool update

The Karanga Plaza Harbour Pool project is part of the Mayor’s vision to open up the waterfront for Aucklanders and it is well underway!

We are thrilled to share some exciting updates on the progress of Tāmaki Makaurau's first free saltwater pool.

Over the coming weeks noticeable changes will be happening at the Karanga Plaza steps as part of the Karanga Plaza Harbour Pool project. This significant piece of work is part of the Mayor’s vision to open up the waterfront for Aucklanders and it is well underway!

A major milestone was achieved this week with the installation of the jump platform.

A seven-tonne bespoke structure consisting of a precast concrete base and aluminium blue bracket was lifted into place early Tuesday morning. Designed and coloured to complement its surroundings this feature will sit adjacent to the pontoon-enclosed pool and swimming lanes.

Following the installation of the jump platform the boarder for the pool will begin to take shape with piling work and pontoon placement scheduled for the next two weeks.

Following these works balustrades will be added to the tidal steps and we will set up the lanes, signs, and safety management protocols to ensure the pool is ready for safe use.

This new city pool in the Wynyard Quarter is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year – just in time for summer!
