'Making It Panmure'
A selection of images and interviews from the ‘Making it Panmure’ series has recently gone up in a display at the Panmure Library.
Making It Panmure is a photographic project that has documented some of the people that make Panmure what it is. The project is a collaboration between Eke Panuku Development Auckland, and No Six, a Panmure creative agency, with support from Fresh Concept.
The photographers for the series are Julie Zhu (Making it Delicious and Making it Active) and Isoa Kavakimotu (Making it Creative and Making it Panmure).
Between 2022 to 2024 four series of images and interviews of 'Making it Panmure' have been displayed: Making it Delicious, Making it Active, Making it Creative and Making it Panmure. The current display will be up at the library over the next few months.
Over the course of the series, many conversations were had about Panmure, covering everything from the Pied-Shag colony in the Basin and where to find the best coffee, to creating connections at the skatepark and, of course, reminiscing about the old roundabout.
However, there was a common thread through these conversations - one of optimism and positivity about Panmure as a place. A place of much history, that has gone through significant change, and will continue to do so, but always with a strong community at its heart.
